Starting the Install |
|
|
Once ready to install WebBrix, run the setup.exe from the CD (or resource location). You’ll be asked some basic questions that will vary on your PC state and/or what parts of WebBrix you plan to install. The install will also install needed components if necessary (MDAC, .NET, etc.).
As the install continues you’ll reach the “Features” screen (see figure Features). If you’re doing a “all in one” install, all features should be checked. WebBrix is a modular software, meaning these features can be spread across multiple machines, but each WebBrix system must have ALL four features installed and communicating on the network in order to function properly. ![]() Features The next screen will be the database section (see figure Database Engine). The below screenshot is from an install when SQL isn’t present. You’ll see it asks you where you’d like to install MSDE and where you’d like the databases themselves. It also asks you if you’d like to leave the default administrator password or choose your own. If selecting your own, write it down so you don’t forget it. ![]() Database Engine When installing on a machine that already has SQL installed, this screen will look different. You’ll be asked where to install the databases and you’ll be prompted for the SQL administrator password.
The next screen will give you the option to install drivers. Currently WebBrix supports the HID VertX driver and it’s checked by default. If uncheck, the install won’t install the needed pieces to communicate with HID VertX hardware. As WebBrix evolves more and more drivers will be available to install via this screen.
The next screen is the “Options” screen. This gives you the ability to install any additional options that ship with WebBrix. Currently WebBrix ships with one option, the IDHolderDataImporter. This utility allows WebBrix to integrate with Active Directory.
The WebBrix install might need to reboot the PC depending on what was installed. This screen prompts you to the password for the current use in order to automatically log back into the PC if a reboot is necessary.
The next screen is the “Configuration Editor”. This allows you to specify a user that the needed WebBrix services will run under. It’s recommended you keep the default “Automatic” setting. Click Next to continue.
Enter the user who’s authority the services will run under. This user needs to be an Administrator on the local machine. If your WebBrix system is spread across multiple machines, it’s recommended this user be a domain user that’s part of the Administrators group on all WebBrix machines. You’ll then use the same user to run the services on all PC’s.
The install will complete and will prompt you to reboot the computer. Congratulations, once rebooted, you're no ready to start working with WebBrix.
