WebBrix 8.1 Readme file

This document provides additional information for installing and configuring WebBrix. It assumes the user is familiar with launching applications, as well as defining Windows Users and their privileges.

These instructions are intended to help when installing the WebBrix application; they do not take into account specific security requirements (i.e. who is allowed to run WebBrix). It is the end user's responsibility to establish their own security policies and follow more restrictive practices according to their individual needs.

================= WEBBRIX REQUIREMENTS =================

A typical WebBrix installation has the following requirements:

Hardware

Memory:

16 GB minimum, 32 GB+ recommended for servers

Available disk space:

40 GB for hardware servers

25 GB per every 150 devices for database servers

150 GB for automated Database backup archive

Processor:

3 GHz or faster dual-core minimum (quad-core recommended)

.NET

.NET Framework 4.8 Runtime

ASP.NET Core Runtime 8.0

Web Server (IIS) (at least one web server required) with:

Common HTTP Features

Default Document

Directory Browsing

HTTP Errors

Static Content

Application Development Features

.NET Extensibility 4.7

ISAPI Extensions

ISAPI Filters

WebSocket Protocol (*Optional, but recommended)

MS SQL Server 2017 through MS SQL Server 2022

SQL Server 2019 must be version 15.0.4023.6 or newer

Mixed mode authentication is required

Supported Operating Systems:

Windows Server 2019

Windows Server 2022

NOTE: Desktop/Client Windows Operating Systems are not supported.

If installed on a workstation operating system, IIS limits the number of

concurrent requests and is not recommended in a production environment.

Additional requirements:

Microsoft Edge, Chrome and Safari are supported

NOTE: Microsoft Internet Explorer is no longer supported

================= INSTALLATION QUICK START =================

* Reboot the PC. This ensures that the Operating System does not lock files, which would prevent updating.

* Log in to the PC as a User with local Administrators rights.

* Run [Drive Letter]:\Setup.exe. UNC paths are not supported.

* Check the logs when setup is complete.

* The error log file is C:\ProgramData\WebBrix\AMTErrorLog.txt

(if this file is missing, no errors were logged).

* Windows Installer Package install logs are located in C:\Program Files (x86)\WebBrix\InstallLogs\.

* The database install log is C:\Program Files\WebBrix (x86)\InstallLogs\DatabaseDeploy.log.

================= NOTES =================

* DCOM/Service Settings - If the various settings relating to DCOM (RunAs user account, security) or Services need to be changed after running setup, it can easily be done by running the ConfigUtil.exe utility located in the application install directory.
